IAS-AK Press Book Series

The Institute for Anarchist Studies is collaborating with AK Press on a small book series. Being "small books," each title will be less than 200 pages, which will also make them more affordable.

Both the IAS and AK Press are dedicated to the promotion of anarchist scholarship as well as scholarship on anarchism. This collaborative book series offers an opportunity to present the work of contemporary anti-authoritarian writers. The IAS and AK will publish short works of current anarchist theory along with anti-authoritarian analysis of current topics and events. The idea is to make anarchist ideas relevant to today's world, while also presenting titles looking at moments in anarchist history. Thus, the series will also attempt to illuminate the underlying causes and consequences of historical developments, and examine history in order to understand the world as it is today. It is the hope of the IAS and AK Press that this book series will contribute to the fuller development of an explicitly anarchist theory and analysis--while also offering inspiration.

Several titles are currently in the works to kick off the series, starting with Anarchism and Its Aspirations by IAS board member Cindy Milstein, followed by books written by two other IAS board members, Mark Lance and Shiri Pasternak.

If you have a book idea or a finished manuscript that you would like the IAS to consider for this series, please contact bookseries@anarchiststudies.org
