IAS grantee Judith Arcana will be performing poetry and speaking on the subject of her IAS funded short story "Keesha and Joanie and Jane" at two events in Chicago this month:
* Tuesday afternoon, 9/21 at 3:30pm on Loyola University's lakeshore campus in Rogers Park, Judith be performing and talking about the poems in her chapbook 4th Period English - and, since the collection works like a play, some LU students may join me; we'...ll see what happens - here's the book's website page:

This event will be in Piper Hall/Gannon (first floor), and is sponsored by the Women's Studies/Gender Studies Department.
* Thursday evening, 9/23 at 7pm, the Chicago Abortion Fund celebrates its 25th anniversary by honoring the Janes - the pre-Roe Abortion Counseling Service of the Chicago Women's Liberation Union.
This event will be at "Macy's" in the Loop, which I continue to think of as Marshall Field, despite reality

Even if you won't be there, send them some money - these people are working in the difficult, dangerous trenches of the US reproductive justice struggle - or honor the occasion by sending some money to your local/regional member of the National Network of Abortion Funds: http://www.nnaf.org/.
